New Collection!

Louise Brigden has created a FABULOUS new collection for you all, namely the "Love & Marriage" Dottie and George collection. Hugely versatile, this bundle comprises images relating to love, engagement, wedding, anniversary, new baby, Christening.

Here are a few cards I made for the last Dottie's World Challenge where the requirements was "Aperture, Ribbon & doodling":

This first card has a square aperture behind which I placed scalloped squares embossed with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. The two papers used there are Basic Grey Blush "Sweetie" (the pink paper) and Imaginisce A Shore Thing "Getting Hotter need Water". The latter paper also covers the main card. Basic Grey Urban Couture Velvet Rick Rack, K&Co Hearts, Doodled Heart border, and last but not least "Puddle Love" image from the new Dottie & George collection completes the card. The layered image has largely been coated in Glossy Accent to enforce that "wet look"

This second card was just a quickie. It's quite a big card (A5) and it, once again, demonstrates how versatile these images are when it comes to resizing to your need; I was able to size this gorgeous "Dottie & George in Love" image to fit exactly inside this large oval aperture.

Doodled scribble border and organza ribbon. The butterflies are K&Co Smitten.

Everything is of course available at Charmed Cards & Crafts.. Click the download button for all the Dottie and George downloads.

Cute Card Challenge

I was checking out Lou's blog and saw her entry into the Cute Card Thursday Challenge, it inspired me to have a go also. I like the challenges as they make me create something I perhaps wouldn't normally think of.

The theme was "in the house" and defined as"anything in the house". I chose this little lady on her bed - I was going to say "this little lady and her rabbit" but as that could be hugely misinterpreted I removed the rabbit (not from the bed mind - oh dear, that hole I'm digging myself is getting mighty big!!). Now I've said that I'm looking at that card in a totally different way!!!! I wish I hadn't said anything now!!

I'll shut up and just post the card. Cosmo Cricket "Hello Sunshine" papers.

Thanks for looking :o)

.....and it's the weekend!

God it's been a tough week! The weather has been hot hot hot and working in that heat has been hard hard hard. What happens when the weekend finally arrives? Well not only does that wonderful Saturday turn up, but so does the clouds - and loads of them, and they have all that watery stuff in them! So instead of the sun warming you with its golden rays, I thought I would warm you up with a little joke.

Three women die together in an accident and go to heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says, 'We only have one rule here in heaven: don't step on the ducks!'

So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.

Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw.. St. Peter chains them together and says, 'Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!'

The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.

The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, and one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on .... very tall, long eyelashes, muscular..

St. Peter chains them together without saying a word. The happy woman says, 'I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?' The guy says, 'I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck.

Ta ta for now ..... :o)

Quickie

Just got time to show you a couple of cards I made for Dottie's World. The challenge this time was "Rhinestones...Ribbon and Raised..." Both images are from the Rock 'n Roll download Collection.

For the first one I used
  • Rhinestones: Leaves on my doodled border
  • Ribbon: Raffia Ribbon bow
  • Raised: Scallop squares embossed with "Bloom Dots" Cuttlebug embossing folder, plus the word "Groovy" was mounted on extra thick chipboard
Her hair looks green but it's yellow LOL I used a selection of Bazzill card stock and Basic Grey papers for this card. The butterflies are Card Connection.

The second one:

  • Rhinestones: K&Co Smitten Rhinestone Hearts
  • Ribbon: American Crafts Green Polka Dot ribbon
  • Raised: Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. The centre is mounted on chipboard

The brad is a Dovecraft Funky brad - I love those. Corners on centrepiece and the swirl corner are K&Co Urban Rhapsody, Rub-on K&Co Mira. The centre is mounted on chipboard then inked and painted with acrylic paint. Paper is from Imaginisce "Loves me" collection.

Journalling on Cards

I was having a little gander at the Daring Cardmakers blog; their latest dare is to include journalling in some form on your card. As it 'appens I made a card recently that fits the bill very nicely so here it is as my entry for the DCM dare :o)

It's a birthday card for an adult. I thought the journalling was quite fun :o)

School's Out for Summer!

Well for my girls anyway as tomorrow is the last day. I had to make cards and thought that in the process I would create a few templates that our customer's could use if they found themselves in a blind panic.

Here are some cards made with the templates:

I hope you find the templates useful. Please take time to read the copyright notice.

Basic Grey Euphoria

I never tire of Basic Grey, their collections consistently surprise me in their variety. What I like most about them (apart from the fantastic quality) is the fact that they present a large array of goodies all coordinating beautifully; no hunting around for things to match, each collection contain everything you could possibly need. The more I look at each collection, the more I like it; the same can be said for the Euphoria range, I just like it more and more. Bright, fresh, summery colours, with a hint of lime, this range is a real fashion statement!
